The throwing of the Dunedin Stone is a challenge event.  The stone is weighing in at a whopping 100 pounds, and is only thrown at the Dunedin Highland Games.  Just picking up the stone can be difficult.
  
Athletes are not required to throw the Dunedin Stone as part of the competition, but eternal glory can find those who do choose to participate.  Each year, the winner of the Dunedin Stone will have his or her name added to the "Arc of the Dunedin Stone".
The Arc is the wooden chest that is used to store and move the Dunedin Stone to and from the Games.
